How the French Press Coffee Maker came to be...

In the 1840's, the French introduced the first balance brewers and the vac pot as well as the idea of a press pot and the plunging brewing system. (Modern day french press coffee maker) In those times the technological challenge was to create a filter that was secure enough to fit, although the first models created by Mayor and Delforge (France) were not as successful as planned, they perfected the system which eventually created a successful marketable new product.

During the early 1900's, the popularity of the press pot called “Cafeolette” was expanding in sales at the local grocery stores including french press coffee beans. Melior introduced the first model in the 1930's. It was made with a stainless steel filter and a metal body. Soon after, they introduced a model reminiscent of Bodum’s current day “Chambord” line. They called it reminiscent because Bodum purchased the design. In the 1970's, the Bodum company began manufacturing plastic, (variety of colors) glass and metal press pots. In the 1980's, as the popularity of the press pot blossomed, so did the profits. At that time, Bodum purchased the “Chambord” line, and decided to create an appealing classical design press pot.

In 2002, The Bodum company was recognized and ranked number one as the Gold Medal winner by the Culinary Institute for the original Chambord French press coffee maker. Because of it’s modernized flawless craftsmanship and production of the Chambord French press, the price is affordable for the average coffee consumer. The quality of taste remains the same as fresh brewed, but the classic Chambord design features a glass carafe, metal plunger, the screen and frame.

There are several types of French coffee press containers such as; stainless steel insulated travel presses. This is a perfect for brewing coffee or tea, but you can also use for cold beverages. The stainless steel (liners and outer shell) coffee press comes in handy for barbecues, and camping. Compared to glass, stainless steel coffee presses hold the temperatures for three times longer than glass, they are easy to keep clean and maintain with replaceable parts as needed.

Transparent travel press also makes fresh coffee or tea on the go, home or office.Just add fresh tea leaves, hot water and press. Coffee stained containers can be a battle but most french press tumblers are dishwasher safe.
